The South Yorkshire Airport City (SYAC) and GatewayEast proposals consist of five complementary districts, designed to integrate employment and residential spaces around a new ‘Central Plaza’. This new town centre will feature retail and community amenities, all connected by sustainable walking and cycling routes. Spanning 1,760 acres, this development is built upon a collaborative partnership with the goal of creating a pioneering model for sustainable growth. It will include an urban extension, an innovation quarter supported by an investment zone, and new homes, all alongside the Council’s commitment to a vibrant and thriving airport. With the Airport lease agreement from landowner Peel Land to Doncaster Council finalised in March 2024, and the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) progressing the region’s capabilities in advanced manufacturing, this site stands as the largest consented development in Yorkshire. With strong governance and significant momentum, the project is now poised to move into delivery to accelerate growth in the region.
